1. Headley Venue, Thornton

Capacity: 50 day guests (80 night guests)

Headley Venue, a golf club and wedding venue, is in West Bradford in Thornton. It’s a beautifully bright and open venue with huge windows that overlook the ground and golf course. It’s licensed for marriages and civil ceremonies, or you can choose to have your ceremony nearby and your reception here.

They can plan and organise all the aspects of your special day, from the table decorations to the photographer, and have a team of wedding planners available to support you and ensure your small wedding is exactly how you invisage.

2. Bradford City Hall

Capacity: 65 (or more in other rooms)

Bradford City Hall is in the heart of Bradford city centre, with Centenary Square right outside. They have a number of rooms for small weddings including the Old Law Court (seating up to 60), the Ernest Saville Room (seeing up to 60) and the Banqueting Hall which seats up to 110, or 65 in horseshoe layout.

The Law Courts make for a very unique small wedding venue. They still feature the old courtroom seating and adornments, while the other rooms showcase beautiful wood panels, original beams and sweeping arches.

Whichever room you choose, you will get access to the stunning, majestic entrance and curving staircase that makes for beautiful wedding photos.

Wedding car pairing: A grand and historic venue such as this deserves a car steeped in history too. This convertible, vintage-style Beauford would look stunning pulling up to the City Hall.

3. Midland Hotel, Bradford City Centre

Capacity: Up to 40 in the smallest rooms, but can accommodate more in other rooms.

The Midland Hotel is located in the city centre of Bradford - close to Bradford Forster Square train station for easy access for guests. In fact, it was built by the Midland Railway Company and, to this day, still showcases some of the original 1800s grandeur. 

For example, the Victorian Passageway has stunning floor to ceiling Burmantoff tiles and it features a beautiful original staircase that’s ideal for wedding photos.

There are a number of different rooms available for civil ceremonies and for the reception, so there’s plenty of choice even for small weddings. The Forster Suite, for example, can accommodate up to 40 guests.

4. Tong Park Hotel

Capacity: 85 guests (for a sit-down meal)

The Tong Park Hotel is in Tong, near Drighlington and is a premier small wedding venue. They are licensed for civil ceremonies and have a wide array of offerings so you can construct a bespoke wedding package according to your needs. 

They also have rooms available so you or your guests can stay the night - and their honeymoon suite is included in their ultimate wedding package.

5. Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford

Capacity: 30-70 (in their smaller room)

The Cedar Court Hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies and has a stunning choice of rooms for wedding receptions. While there is a large capacity space, they also have a beautiful Rowan Suite that’s ideal for small weddings. 

The Rowan Suite has an adjacent conservatory with a private bar and rooftop terrace. It’s a stunning small venue for a wedding in Bradford.

6. Hoyle Court, Shipley

Capacity: 50 guests (for a sit-down meal)

Hoyle Court is a beautiful house and gardens venue in Shipley, north of Bradford. It’s approximately a 20 minute drive from Bradford city centre and is licensed for civil ceremonies.

The venue has two rooms, one of which is particularly ideal for small weddings. The lounge can accommodate up to 50 guests for a sit-down meal and they have in-house chefs that can cater to your tastes and preferences. They have options from BBQs to carveries. 

With a dedicated wedding planner, they handle the catering to the flowers, and can even organise themed weddings.

Wedding car pairing: Hoyle Court is a historic house, so a historic car would match perfectly. This gorgeous  1950s Bentley in blue is very rare and would certainly turn heads on your wedding day.

7. Holdsworth House, Halifax

Capacity: up to 40 (although they have other packages that can accommodate more)

Holdsworth House is a little further out from Bradford than some of the other venues, near to Halifax and around a 30 minute drive from Bradford city centre. However, it has some of the most notable small wedding spaces - including the UK’s smallest licensed wedding venue.

The Stone Gazebo within Holdsworth House is the UK’s smallest wedding venue licensed for civil ceremonies. It’s suitable for up to 10 guests.

They have other rooms available for wedding ceremonies and receptions of varying sizes and needs. For example, afternoon tea in the Abraham Brigg room or a 4-course sit down meal in the historic Hall.

What is classed as a small wedding?

Small weddings are usually considered to be between 20-65 people, but it varies according to different cultures, and even between couples. For example, an Asian wedding in Bradford might be considered small with up to 200 people - as weddings in Asian cultures are commonly much larger than in Western cultures.

Weddings with fewer than 20 people are usually called ‘micro weddings’.
